Everything parents ask before their first kit arrives. Can't find your answer? Email us at Info@underbluewaters.com and we'll help - we reply 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.
Every kit is a complete hands-on marine science adventure built around one ocean topic. Inside you'll find an illustrated lesson guide, all the materials your child needs for the experiments and activities, identification sheets, and a build-and-keep project they finish themselves. Everything is included, so there's nothing extra to buy.
Kits are built for children roughly 4 to 12. You choose your child's Explorer Level at checkout: Ages 4-6, Ages 7-9, or Ages 10-12. The ocean topic stays the same across levels, but the reading, activities and depth are adjusted to fit. If your child sits between two levels, choose the older one - they grow into it fast.
A new kit arrives once a month. You can order a single kit to try it first, or prepay for 6 or 12 months to bring the per-kit price down. Prepaid plans are paid once up front, so there is no monthly charge to keep track of. There is no deadline on any kit - it is yours to keep, and your child can work through it at their own pace.
Yes. Month-to-month subscriptions can be paused or cancelled at any time - just email Info@underbluewaters.com and we'll take care of it. There is no cancellation fee and no minimum number of kits. Prepaid 6 and 12 month plans cover a set number of kits and simply run to the end of the term, so nothing renews without you choosing it.
Yes. Every topic can be ordered as a single kit with no obligation to continue. Plenty of families start with one adventure to see how their child takes to it, then move onto a monthly or prepaid plan. If you would rather try something instantly, individual digital lesson downloads are available too.
Then you shouldn't pay for it. If your first kit isn't a hit, email Info@underbluewaters.com within 30 days of it arriving and we will refund it - you don't need to ship anything back. We would far rather have a happy family than a reluctant subscriber.
Standard shipping is free on every kit sent within the United States, so the price you see is the price you pay - no surprises at checkout. We are not able to ship physical kits internationally at the moment, but our digital lesson downloads can be bought and used anywhere in the world.
It is the part children are proudest of. As your child works through the kits, they earn a personalised Jr. Marine Biology Certification in their own name - a real credential for a young scientist rather than a sticker. It is included at no extra cost.
Very well. Each kit is a self-contained marine science unit with a lesson, vocabulary, an experiment and a hands-on project, so it drops straight into a science block with no prep on your part. And because you choose the Explorer Level, siblings of different ages can study the same ocean topic together, each at their own reading level.
Yes. If you have more than one young marine biologist at home, email Info@underbluewaters.com before you order and we will set up a sibling discount for you. There is no reason to pay full price twice for the same month's adventure.
